The staff at Total Outdoors would like to introduce our young anglers to the food that most fish eat. At first we will gather the group and present a comprehensive slide show of the food items in Penns Creek. Some of the food items are shown above. Our next step will be to move to the creeks edge and the Total Outdoors staff will hold a net in the water and we will capture the actual living insects from the water. After gathering hundreds of the creatures will will move to a classroom setting to sort and identify what we have found. We will identify and educate the students as to the various items we find. We will also include a microscopic evaluation of the macro invertebrates found in water samples. Our next step is to watch an underwater movie of these food items in their natural environment. This is a hands on fun way to show the students the food in the creek. They will learn why, where and when these food items are available to the fish. Young anglers and adults love this kind of education and just soak it up!
